Overview

The .357 Magnum is a six shot revolver found in the Black Mesa Research Facility. It is a very powerful weapon, killing most human opponents with one shot. It is also very accurate, even at long range thanks to the possibility of zooming. However, its low ammo capacity, high recoil, sparse ammunition, and long reload time mar the practicality of the weapon. The player can carry up to 18 .357 Magnum Bullets in reserve [1].

Primary Function

Fires a single shot.

Secondary Function

Activates the zoom. This function includes a few changes from the original Half-life; it is enabled in both singleplayer and multiplayer [2] and zooms to a lesser extent than in the original game. The singleplayer model lacks the scope; it is currently unknown whether this is the case for multiplayer as well.

Trivia

  • The .357 Magnum featured in the Half-Life series is based on the real-life Colt Python.
