Glock 17

Overview
The Glock 17 is a 9mm handgun which is part of Gordon Freeman's arsenal, also used as the standard-issue sidearm for the Black Mesa security guards and main weapon for the Assassins. It is first obtained during the chapter Unforeseen Consequences.
The Glock carries 17 rounds in each magazine, with a maximum of 250 rounds in reserve which is shared with the MP5 [1]. Despite its little damage per shot, the Glock is one of the most accurate weapons in the game (and one of the few that can be fired while underwater).
Primary Function
The Glock's primary fire is semi-automatic, which means that the weapon fires once for each pull of the trigger. However it has an artificial delay of 0.1 seconds to prevent exploits, like scripts or aliases [2].

Trivia
- Currently, the textured model of the Glock is marked as "Glock 19," however, it is the full-sized Glock 17 rather than the compact Glock 19.
Redesign History
The Secondary Function
In the original Half-Life, the Glock had a secondary function which allowed it to fire at a faster rate but with loss of accuracy. In Black Mesa, the secondary function was initially planned to be a burst fire mode (like the Glock 18 in Counter-Strike), but it was later dropped due to balance issues [3]. That burst mode - more powerful, faster on average and considerably more accurate - took away the need for the MP5.
The nonexistence of the burst mode in the real Glock 17 also contributed to the cut of this feature. [4]
Weapon Model
Early in its development the Glock was held one-handed (as seen in the screenshot below) and had a different appearance to the more recent version. The newer Glock is held with 2 hands and has an updated model and texture.
