Template Talk
I just updated the footer box as I have always hated how thick it was when closed. Also I have done away with top corner images and have replaced them with corner radius CSS. This is good because it makes the code more agile and the box will be able to operate on backgrounds that are not #272727. Down side is people who are still running IE 8 and lower will get square corners as this command wasn't supported by Microsoft until IE9. As this template is transcluded (embedded) in 162 pages on the wiki please keep an eye out for bugs that may crop up. I tried to keep the core of the script very similar so there shouldn't be many if any problems. --FireTime 00:01, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- Installed Round.js so IE 6,78 can aso have round boxes as well. Updated the footer code to implement it. To use it just use the class rounttop/bod. Js will either use browser specific commands if they support them or will draw the round corners if it is a lame browser. I have also created new tables for the convars section here. They are sleeker and the code is much MUCH neater that the orgional as I've managed to move most of thee formatting code into the core stylesheet.
I'll start converting the tables tomorrow.--FireTime 09:22, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
- Tables updated. I also moved 100% of the formatting code into templates so all you need for the tables is {Ctop}Tabular data{cbod} --FireTime 19:35, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Current events
As of posting the only thing in the current events page is that the wiki is now out. An idea of mine is to post links to HOT or interesting items recently added to the wiki. I wouldn't want to go over the developer’s heads and make it like a update blog with personal blurbs, but rather just an updating list of links or excerpts of content that is added to the wiki. Things that it shouldn't contain are links to excerpts that haven't already been added to the wiki (ie: no linking to a post from a dev that hints on a release date) or links to media that wouldn't need the wiki requirements. Just to reiterate, it would just be for things that are already in, or just added to the wiki. Kind of like a one stop shop for wiki noobs to quickly gather information (plus timestamps so some of the dam blogs stop ranting about how it has been 365 days since a new screen shot of the mod has been released)
- I like the idea, but where can we begin? At the moment we are making only minor edits with the "cold material" we have available. --Conti 20:13, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
- I know that we don't have much to work with but we could post all of the updates to the levels made by Citric. Or even the mp5. Sure we wont have too much to add all the time but when we come across something cool or interesting (even just text) could make it onto the list. Like When we get an updated convar list, posting a few cool or funny settings with a link to the full page could add something.--FireTime 21:12, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
- Got it! When we have something substantial posted there, we can also put the link of the Current Events in the Main Page under the "Wiki Updates" area, marking its official "grand opening". --Conti 22:42, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
We could start or continue with Ram last update. --Mont Blanc 02:34, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not sure. What others think? --Conti 04:53, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- That’s the type of thing I wanted to avoid. We run the risk of it becoming a blog. It's not our place to be side stepping the devs and posting about the mod in that manner on the official domain. If the devs wanted to share any release data information publicly they would. They have multiple channels to do so but they chose not to due to reasons that I understand and would like to respect. Also not to sound like an ass
, When I originally thought of this idea we would be limited to content posted on the wiki so what we linked must first meet the wiki content requirements. That post has no good home on this wiki as it is a topic we avoid because this is not the place for it. I know that I'm coming off a little brash here but I don’t mean to be. I just don’t want to step on any of the teams toes as this idea is already a little close to conflicting with some of the ideals behind the lack of updates with the developers. --FireTime 12:08, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- That's okay for me. I was mostly relaying the idea of other members who thought this could go on the wiki as some kind of update because of the larger audience. On a side note the update pics by Citric are very interesting since they highlight some subtle changes in term of gameplay (suppression of signs) or aesthetics (no more hunchback marines). --Mont Blanc 12:36, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- TBH I agree with all what FireTime said. So this will be our rule: Wiki content only. Let's do the first step then, until we have anything newer to share... The MP5 and Citric's pics as you guys pointed out. I already added these subjects in the page. Please correct something if necessary, change the design, etc. --Conti 00:11, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- Addendum: I thought about the link in the front page as "Current Events: Up-to-date info about the mod and its development". OK or any other suggestion? --Conti 00:47, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- I like it personally. A more playful version could be : "Current Events: Don't miss the latest developments by our dedicated science team !" --Mont Blanc 17:51, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
